Ahmedabad is the most populous, prosperous and largest city of Gujarat. Till 1970 Ahmedabad used to be the state capital but now Gandhinagar, situated very close to Ahmedabad has taken over that mantle. Ahmedabad is a very busy industrial and commercial city and Indias most famous management institute IIM, Ahemadabad is located here. There is a huge contrast between the old city and new city which are seperated by Sabarmati river. New Ahmedabad has many examples of contemporary architecture. Sabarmati Ashram, a second home for Mahatma Gandhi, has personal items of Gandhiji and is visited by many.
