Ajmer city is located in Rajasthan. It is a beautiful city surrounded by mountains of the Aravali Range on all sides.
It was founded by Raja Ajay Pal in the seventh century and was the seat of power for the Chauhan Dynasty till 1193AD when Prithvi Raj Chauhan was defeated by Mohammad Ghauri. Since then Ajmer has been home to many dynasties such as the Mughals, Mewar, Marwar and the Marathas.
Today Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage center. Dargah Sharif - tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti is one of the most important religious sites that is equally revered by Hindus and Muslims.
