Akshardham temple – literally the divine abode of the One God - in Delhi is a work of rare architectural beauty. Inaugurated on 6th November, 2005, it comprises of boat rides, musical fountains, and Garden of India on the outside. While the fountain dances to the rhythm of sacred chants, the Garden offers 60 acres of lush greenery filled with statues of national figures. There is a Hall of Values that boasts of a sound and light system, and a giant film screen too. 10,000 years of Indian culture are encapsulated here.
Built on the banks of the Yamuna at the behest of Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj, the temple has come to represent a twining of architecture and spirituality, where visitors can spend the whole day and come back refreshed and rejuvenated, and aware of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
