Batticaloa city is situated on the eastern side of Sri Lanka. While the city itself does not have much of major attractions, Batticaloa district and around is known for its beautiful lagoon and beaches. It is also known as the Land of the Singing Fish, it is a shell fish which makes sound in the form of musical notes.
The district has witnessed a lot of horrors of the civil war and as such, most of the travel destinations are under developed.
