Bilaspur lies on NH21 Bilaspur between Chandigarh and Mandi. The city is situated near the Gobind Sagar lake. Bilaspur was founded in 1663 by the Chandela Rajputs who had their origins in MP. Pre independence Bilaspur it used to under the province of Punjab.
As NH21 passes through Bilaspur it has become quite crowded near the road and most tourists just pass through it enroute to Manali and beyond.
