A cricket ground in Mumbai, the Brabourne Stadium is situated near the Churchgate railway station in Southern Mumbai. Owned by the Cricket Club of India, popular test matches like those from 1948 to the 1972 along with the Bombay Pentangular matches, have been played at this cricket ground.
However, since 1970s, the Brabourne Stadium was no longer a major venue for international matches, due to a dispute between Cricket Club if India and the Mumbai Cricket Association over the allotment of tickets. The Mumbai Cricket Association hence decided to built a cricket stadium of their own, now known as the Wankhede Stadium.
