Chandi Devi Temple, one of the oldest temples of north India, is located at Neel Parvat. It was constructed by the King of Kashmir in 1929 AD. It is said that the army chief of the local demon king was killed by Goddess Chandi here after which the place got the name Chandi Devi Temple. A ropeway has been made for the convenience of the pilgrims. The main image at Chandi Devi temple is said to have been installed by Adi Shankaracharya in 8th century A.D.
