Overview

The Chilukar Balaji Temple is more popularly known as the Visa Balaji Temple and is located on the banks of Osman Sagar Lake near Hyderabad. It is one of the oldest temples in the region and was built during the time of Akkana and Madanna. The Temple is named Chilukar as it is situated in the Chilukar village near grape orchards and small rocks.

Over 1 lakh devotees visit the temple every week with Fridays and Saturdays being the busiest. The maximum number of devotees, who visit the temple, come to seek blessings of the deity so as to obtain a US visa easily. The temple became famous as the Visa God because of the head priest of the temple.

This temple is also the only temple which does not accept any money as offerings. Neither does it have any privileges for any VVIPs and is still out of government control.

The prayer ritual includes devotees taking three rounds of the inner shrine and taking a vow that if they get their US visa they would return to the temple to fulfill the vow which is to walk 108 times around the temple.
