Chitkul (altitude 3450m) is the highest village of Baspa valley. Its the last village on Hindustan-Tibet Road and also the last place till which tourists can travel without a permit. There are three temples of local Goddess Mathi in the village. The Guest houses are right on the river Baspa and within reach of the snow-clad hills. The friendly hills welcome people for trekking.
It is a very scenic place and Baspa river provides ideal conditions for fishing for those interested. Its distance from Sangla is about 24km.
Hidden Gems!
1. The last trail - The place opens up a trail that walks adjacent to the Baspa river. The trail is around 2kms which ends up in the military border force [though they do not allow you to walk further;)]. The experience of being at the last point that marks the end of the vast nation is amazing:)
