The Delhi Zoo houses over two thousand species different varieties of animals, reptiles and birds from all over the world. The park houses nearly all varities of deer found in India. Other attractions are the White Lion from Rewa, elephant that plays harmonica, the leopard, Indian Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Black Buck, Indian Gazelle and Lion-tailed macaque
The zoo also has a library that is a good source of information for the animals and birds in the park.
The zoo is home to thousands of migratory birds from Europe, Russia, the Gulf and South East Asia. After covering 3000-5000km these birds reach Delhi at the beginning of winters and stay till summers start. They start their homeward journey by the end of March each year. Prominent among the winged visitors are pintails, shovelers, common teals and dabchiks. Giving them company are white storks, black-necked storks, white ibises, spot-billed ducks and little cormorants.
