The Durgam Cheruvu is also known as the secret lake because it remains hidden due to the granite boulders that surround it. It is also called the Madhapur Lake. The Lake is situated on Jubilee Hills and is gifted with scenic beauty with hill rocks on both sides. The Lake is spread over an area of 63 acres and is surrounded by the Deccan Plateau. This was once a source of drinking for the Golconda Fort. The granite rocks found here are said to be one of a kind in Asia and date back to 2500 million years.
The Lake has been developed as a tourist attraction by the Tourism Department. Pedal boating, mechanized boating, water scooters, fishing, trekking and camping facilities are also available along with a refreshment centre.
