Shivanasamudram or Shivana Samudra is a scenic waterfall destination in Mandya in Karnataka. The Kaveri River splits here into two and each branch separately forms 2 cascaded waterfalls - Gangachukki and Bharachukki.
Gangachukki Waterfalls are cascaded waterfalls and water falls down a height of 98m. Asia's first hydroelectric power station was setup on these falls in 1905 to supply power to the Kolar Gold Mines. The station is located close to the Dargah from where the views of the falls are amazing. During monsoons the waterfalls swell to enormous proportions and hit the ground with so much force that it creates a white foam.
