Galing is the place of festivals, colours and treks. The village is populated with stretches of farms, lush green forests and the the amazingly unique costumes. Galing is the perfect example of rural life drenched in simplicity. The semi-nomadic tribes can be found here, who are known as Merak-sakten (brokpas). Their main occupation is breeding and rearing yaks, and farming. The famous Mak dance, folk dances, yak dance, and Achi Lhamo narrate the story of their origin and their lives. There are multiple treks in and around this place but the one tested and proven is the trek from Ranjung to Galing.

Detailed Route & Itinerary 

This is a small trek that can be done within one day, or two days if you want to stop and enjoy the culture of local people.
Trekking itself will take 3-4 hours one way, depending on the speed, and you will land up in Galing. You can spend time seeing the colourful people and the festivals, if you are here during those months, and then can head back via the same trek same day or the next.

Essential Tools & Gear 

You should definitely carry full camping equipment if you are planning to spend the night over. Apart from that, standard trekking gear and equipment including (but not limited to) shoes, first-aid, food, water, rain-gear, salt for leaches etc is recommended.

When to go 

The best months to visit are October-December because they are the months of the festivals. October is beautiful because you can see the people preparing themselves to welcome the festivals. November is populated with festivals and dances, and December is the month when everything around is beautiful.
Months from January - April are also good for the trip.

How to reach 

The actual distance to Galing which lies in the north of Trashigang is around 14 km. But a drive of 17 kms from Trashigang will take you to Ranjung which marks the starting point of the trek.

DOs 

1. Do carry sunscreen ,hat, glares etc. too, along with your essential gear.

DON'Ts 

1. The place is not suitable for overnight stay and you will probably not find place/accommodation. So do not plan for that, unless you are carrying camping equipment. One can easily find suitable places to stay at Trashigang.
