Madhav Rao Peshwa built the Saras Baug Ganapati Temple in 1774. The temple, located inside Saras Baug is dedicated to Shree Siddhivinayak or Lord Ganesha. Maharashtrians believe in Lord Ganesha intensely as the destroyer of all worries and the granter of wishes. This temple attracts huge crowds of 10,000 a day and about 100,000 on special occasions like Ganesha Chaturthi. Near the temple is the Ganesh Murti Museum that has statues of Lord Ganesha on display. The surrounding Saras Baug Park amidst Parvati Hills is an ideal site for worship and recreation.
