Overview

Gupteshwar Cave is regarded as sacred and inviolable by the local people. The cave is divided into two absolutely different parts. One carries the great Lord Shiva temple where a shivlinga, phallic symbol of Lord Shiva is preserved and it is believed that the linga is preserved the way it was originally discovered. The second part is comprised of the snaky caves that widen and narrow down to amuse the tourists. This cave is 3 Km long. At few places, you even have to crawl down to the dust to pass through it.

From the extreme end, ona can even have a bird's view of nearby Devi's falls. If visiting temple alone, you need to pay Rs 30/-. But if adding caves as well, you need to pay an extra Rs 70/-.
