Amongst few green hubs in the city of Mumbai is the famous and ancient Hanging Gardens. The gardens are called so because they lie on the slope of Malabar Hill. Also known as Ferozshah Mehta Gardens, these were built in 1880 over 3 reservoirs. The reservoirs are said to store over 30 million gallons of water for purification, before supplying it to the town. These gardens offer a beautiful sunset view and panoramic glimpses of Mumbai city. The Hanging Gardens are exactly opposite to Kamala Nehru Park, near Towers of Silence and overlook the Arabian waters.
