The state of numerous peaks, valleys and goddesses has peaceful inhabitants and is today in the midst of rapid progress on the infrastructural, educational and industrial front. Not many tourists go beyond the more famous hill stations and that is because of the lack of adequate staying arrangements in the remote, undeveloped but inviting areas.
Manali has had its heyday as a tranquil retreat for tourists but places in the Lahaul and Spiti valley have taken over the role of chief attractors for those in search of unspoilt novelty.
