Hulhumale is an artificial island which was reclaimed to accommodate the ever growing housing and commercial requirements of Male. The government established the Hulhumale Development Corporation in 2005 to further the infrastructure development on the island.
The island has relatively beautiful landscape and beaches. It also boasts of the Mosque of Hulhumale which is known for its beautiful architecture.
