Jaipur is located in the eastern area of Rajasthan and is rightly known as the \'Pink City\', owing to the large number of structures built in pink-painted sandstone. The tradition of painting monuments and city areas pink began with the first visit of Prince of Wales in Jaipur. A well planned city, Jaipur showcases significant historic, artistic and cultural traditions and is therefore a favorite tourist location.
Amongst the most famous attractions are: Camel Safaris in the nearby desert, display of fascinating scientific wonders at Jantar Mantar, Birla Planetarium and natural surroundings in Ram Niwas Gardens and Zoo. One must also visit the Amber Fort which houses two palaces, the Jaigarh fort which houses the world\'s largest cannon and Nahargarh Fort. Jaipur has many palaces beautifully laid out in the city. These include, \'Palace of Winds\' or Hava Mahal with a large number of windows, City Palace and Royal Gaitor Palace. Two important temples for devotee-worship are Govind Devji Temple and Moti Doongri Temple. These apart, the cultural heritage of Jaipur is highlighted in museums like Jaipur Central Museum, Dolls Museum, Museum of Indology and a famous art gallery called Juneja. One can easily reach Jaipur by rail or air, as it is well connected to important cities in India.
