Kanva Ashram is located approximately 50km from Lansdowne. It was at this place where Vishwamitra meditated for years before Menka, a damsel sent by Lord Indra, interrupted his meditation. Together they had a daughter named Shakuntala. Later Shakuntla and King Dusmanta (the king of Hastinapur) had a baby boy named Bharat from whom Bharat(India) takes its name.
Kanvashram is surrounded by thick forests and is located on the banks of River Malini. An hour's trek leads one to a place with tiny ponds and small waterfalls.
