Overview

Sir John Malcom, the British officer who discovered Mahabaleshwar, named this point after his daughter, Kate. Amongst several other points in the valleys of Mahabaleshwar, Kates is the one of the highest, peaking at 1,290 m. Remarkable attraction of this point is a huge splendid rock on the hill. During winters, Kates point provides a scenic view of Dhoom Dam brimming with water and the scenic Krishna Valley. The misty skies cap peaks of Kamalgadh, Pandavgadh and Mandardeo, which is visible from Kate’s Point. It is located at a distance of 5km from Venna Lake and a nearby attraction is the ‘Echo Point’.
