Overview

Khaling Wildlife sanctuary, though comes late in the queue of the sanctuaries in terms of size, houses few of the rarest species of animals. It is situated in south-eastern part of the nation and circles only one zhongkhar of Samdrup Jongkhar and is the extended version of Neoli wildlife sanctuary, hence adding Neoli to its present name.
The animals like Pygmy Hog( a wild pig, which is counted to just 150 in number in the world) and Hispid Hare ( bristly rabbit, is one of the rarest mammals), are the proud inhabitants of this wildlife sanctuary. Other rare breeds like wild elephants, gaur, boa constrictors, tigers, chimpanzees etc are well preserved here. The sanctuary is trio-bordered as it also walls with Assam in India.
