Kolaba Fort or Kulaba Fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj in 1652, in the Alibag Beach of Arabian Sea. This sea fort has a height of 25 feet and is at a distance of 2 km from Alibag Beach shores. The fort has entrances facing Arabian Sea and Alibag. Interestingly, despite being a part of saltwater body, the fort has a fresh-water well. A temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha was built by Raghoji Angre in the year 1759, which is still worshipped by fishermen from the area. It also has temples dedicated to Mahishasura and Goddess Padmavati apart from carvings of animals and birds on fort walls. Kolaba Fort can be approached by foot during low tides and by boat during high tides.
