The ideal months to visit Lumbini are from October- Early April. The weather during these months is pleasantly cool. The 'just enough' sun rays, and the 'just enough' cool breeze blend into a perfect combination for the visit.
Lumbini is well connected to all the other parts of Nepal by roads and airways. One can take the local buses from any part of Nepal to Lumbini; Kathmandu being around 10 hours from here.
By Air
You can board a flight to the nearby airport at Siddharthanagar (earlier called Bhairahawa) from Kathmandu. Airplanes flying to Lumbini are usually smaller, 20 seater, ones.
By Train
There is no train service to Lumbini.
By Road
Buses ply daily from Bhairawa to Lumbini, though the service is poor, uncomfortable, over crowded and slow. It takes more than an hour for 21 km of distance.
There is one bus at 6 AM and the another one at 5 PM.
You can always hire a cab to this place. It might be little expensive but it will save you the pain of the hectic bus journey.
Alternatively, shared autos are gaining the momentum as well. They look like a better option as they are cheaper than cabs and less crowded. They might be little slower as well, but then there is no point spending around Rs 1000/- on the cab for half an hour distance.
