This tropical rainforest pass through the Central and Sabaragamuwa province and the 224 sq kms of area is spread around the foot of Adam's peak. This Sanctuary is one of the protected areas which is under the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka that was a World heritage site in 2010. It varies drastically in its geography with its plains at 1000ft and peak at 7360ft above sea level. The 3 most popular trails used by the pilgrims to reach Adam's peak pass through the Sanctuary. The Kelani, Walane & Kalu rivers all originate from this sanctuary.
