In the 14th century, King Vikramabahu III established this garden. The garden is beautifully laid and offers 8 types of plant collections i.e. aquatic plants, arboretum, arches collection, borders plant, grass collection, medicinal garden, pergola collection and student garden. The garden also provides an opportunity to watch some wildlife. There are around 80 species of birds including 10 native species and a few migrant birds. It also has 80 species of butterflies including 18 species of mammals, 15 species of amphibians and 20 reptiles species. The orchid house is one of the major attractions of the garden.
