Rajmachi, near Pune is chiefly a trekking destination. It is located at a distance of 20 km from Lonavala and is adorned by forts, peaks, waterfalls and wild life. Shrivardhan, at a height of 3000 ft and Manoranjan, at a height of 2700 ft, are two peaks in the hills of Rajmachi. Two forts were built in this area to offer a panoramic view of Konkan region from this height. The forts are characterized by cisterns, walls and architecturally designed entrances. The trek to Rajmachi begins at Tungarli Lake and treats the visitors with plenty of waterfalls for relaxation, throughout the route. Kondhavi is a group of ancient Buddhist caves at Rajmachi Fort exemplifying beautiful art and craftsmanship. The summit offers panoramic views of the valley below and also seen are – Konkan region, Ulhas River, Matheran, Karnala, Duke’s Nose, Mahuli and Bhimshankar. Rajmachi Wild Life Sanctuary is an excellent spot for nature lovers as it has rich floral and faunal population.
