Ratangarh Fort is a hill fort in Ahmednagar district, at a height of 4255 ft above sea level. It once served as the Fort of Chathrapathi Shivaji. One has to cross Bhandardara Lake from Igatpuri to reach Rahtanwadi, which is the base village of this fort using ferry or go around the lake via road. On the way to the top of the hill, one can find two huge caves which have facilities for halting. At the summit, a 1000 year old Shiva’s temple known as Amruteshwar Temple adds holiness to the fort. A natural orifice called ‘nedhe’ can be found along the hill side where tourists choose to relax. Normally it would take about 3 hours to reach Ratangarh Fort from Rahtanwadi village.
