This Stupa is one of the Solosmasthana (16 sacred sites) for the Buddhist pilgrims. It was built in 3rd century BC and, at one point of the time, enshrined the relic of the front bone of Buddha. It is 55m high and its circumference is 165m. It was the largest Dagoba in Sri Lanka when it was first built.
