Situated in the middle of Haa district and Samtse districts of Western Bhutan and covering two zongkhags of these districts, Torsa (sometimes spelled Toorsa) Strict Nature Reserve is a proud part of the Sacred Himalayan Landscape that comes from Langtang National Park( in Central Nepal), via Kanchenjunga region of Sikkim, touchin Darjeeling and then landing in Toorsa.
The small water-bodies inside this reserve, The lush green temperate forests, the multi-shaped landscapes, broad-leaf evergreen and deciduous forests, alpine and sub-alpine grasslands and scrub lands are all part of this reserve's varied ecosystem. No doubt the place is rich in flora and one happens to hit the most amazing scenes, with multi-coloured birds, (counted to 150 species) fluttering in different areas. It also protects few of the most Red Alert species of the birds like Rufous necked Hornbill.
Being bereft of humans, this place is wild and untouched by modernization and takes a person to 15th century.

Hidden Gems! 

1. It is the only protected area in Bhutan where there is no human settlement.
2. A small lake Sinchulunga, in the middle of this reserve, is worth a stop.

The Reserve is right on the Ind-China border also acts as Chinese border security zone, which is important to be taken care of while exploring the forests. Certain places in this reserve are restricted, which can be detailed about by a local guide.
