Weligama, which means sandy village, is a beach town. It is known for its stilt fishermen and gorgeous beaches. The village offers a lot more- at one end of it is the Mahayana Bodhisathwa which was built by the leper king who came here and was miraculously cured. If you are a surfer then the waves here are perfect for you. But if love reptiles then 15 kms from here is the Snake farm.
